Chaklis are a great snack option, but these here are highly nutritious when consumed in proper portion sizes. These nutritional Chaklis are made from Ragi, soya, and rice flour and finally mixed with cumin and sesame seeds. Ragi flour is rich in iron, calcium, and dietary fiber. Soya flour is a good source of proteins and hence helps to manage the carbohydrate to protein ratio. Prepare this crunchy delicacy at home and store them up nice!

INGREDIENTS:
  • Ragi flour - ¼ cup
  • Soya flour - ¼ cup
  • Rice flour - ¼ cup
  • Softened butter - 2 tsp
  •  Ginger-green chili paste - 1 tsp
  •  Roasted cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Sesame seeds - ½ tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil - 2 tbsp
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Combine the red millet flour, soya flour, rice flour and butter in a bowl and mix well. Step 2 Add the ginger-green chilli paste, cumin seeds, sesame seeds and salt and knead into a soft dough using enough water. Step 3 Put the mixture into a chakli press and press out round swirls of the dough onto a dry, flat surface, working closely from the centre to the outside of the swirls (approximately 50 mm. (2") diameter). You will get about 20 to 22 chaklis. Step 4 Heat the oil in a kadhai, gently lift each chakli using a flat spoon and deep-fry over a slow flame till they turn gulden brown in culour from both sides. Drain on absorbent paper. Step 5 Coul and serve or store in an air-tight container.
