Green gram or moong dal can be eaten in many forms. It can be soaked and made into a dal/chilla or sprouted to make sprouted moong salad/sandwich etc. Chillas are easy to make and less time-consuming. Moong dal not only helps in weight loss but also benefits the metabolism, immune system and protects against fatal diseases. This recipe can be eaten as a healthy breakfast/snack. It is a filling and healthy option.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Whole green gram - 2 tbsp (sabut moong), soaked
  • Paneer - 10gms
  • Gram flour(besan) - 2 tsp
  • Onion - 1 small(25g)
  • Green chillies - 1 no. 
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Cumin seed - ½ tsp  
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1 tsp
  • Ginger - ½ inch, finely chopped
  • Red chilli powder - ¼ tsp
  • Oil - ½ tsp
  • Salt - as per taste
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Drain the soaked moong and grind it with salt, green chillies and a little water till smooth. Transfer into a bowl and add asafetida, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, gram flour and mix well. Add a little water to adjust the consistency of the batter. Step 2 Add lemon juice and mix well. Set aside for a while. Heat a non-stick tawa. Grate paneer into a bowl. Step 3 Chop onion into a bowl, add paneer, chopped onion and red chilli powder to batter and mix well. If you want, add a little ginger.  Step 4 Now, spread a little batter on the tawa to a medium round chilla.  Step 5 Drizzle a little oil all around and cook on medium heat till the underside is done.
