This preparation has its origins in the Moplah cuisine of Kerala. Drumstick leaves are high in iron and help detox the system. Toor dal adds a punch of protein to the recipe making it more delicious and healthy.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Toor dal (boiled with water) - 1 katori
  • Onion [sliced] - ½ katori
  • Moringa leaves - 1 katori 
  • Coconut milk - ½ cup (optional)
  • Green chili [chopped] - 1 no
  • Ginger [chopped] - ½ tsp 
  • Water - as required
  • Salt - to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Cook toor dal, sliced onions, green chilies, and ginger in two cups of water. Step 2 Add moringa leaves, salt to taste and simmer for a minute. Step 3 Add half cup coconut milk and let simmer. Step 4 Serve hot.
