Barnyard millet is high in fiber and a good source of zinc and manganese. Barnyard millet is good for diabetes and helps in weight loss. Ingredients

INGREDIENTS:
  • Barnyard millet - 20 g
  • Moong dal - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Black peppercorns - ½ tsp
  • Salt as per taste 
  • Ginger finely grated - ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves - 4
  • oil - ½ tsp 
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Wash millet, add moong dal, salt and 3 cups of water. Step 2 Pressure cook till 4-5 whistles. When it is done, mash this nicely. Step 3 In a pan, add the oil add black peppercorns and when it crackles add the cumin seeds add curry leaves and ginger to this and saute for a few seconds.  Step 4 Switch off the flame.  Step 5 Mix the spices to the cooked millet and dal.  Step 6 Mix well and serve.
