Puran poli is a classic Maharashtrian delicacy. It wins over hearts with taste and rich aroma and is so satiating and good protein meal in itself. This highly nutritious sweet which can be enjoyed by all age groups.

INGREDIENTS:

For the stuffing:
  • Split yellow gram - 20 grams
  • Jaggery - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder - a pinch
  • Ghee - ½ tsp
For the covering:
  • Whole wheat flour - 10 grams
  • Oats flour - 10 grams

DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Heat the ghee in a non-stick pan Step 2 Add split yellow gram, mix well & cook till moisture evaporates. Step 3 Add the jaggery and cook until almost dry. Step 4 Keep it soft and pliable. Do not make it stiff. Step 5 For covering: Step 6 Mix all the ingredients & knead a soft dough.To make Puran-Puli: Step 7 Make two rotis Step 8 Place the puran in the center gather the sides and seal it in the center. Step 9 Press and rull again. Make it thick. Step 10 Roast in a tava and cook well on both side.  Step 11 Serve hot.
